Wingo plan adjustment 2026: what existing customers should check before September
Wingo plans to change existing Mobile and Internet plans between 1 and 18 September 2026. For you as an existing customer, this is more than a technical notification: the adjustment is a concrete opportunity to compare your current value for money with the new terms. The key factors are not just the monthly price, but also data volume, speed, discounts, contract duration and outstanding device instalments.
The details of your personal change are set out in Wingo’s notification or in your customer account. You can find the official information about the adjustment at Wingo. Check it early and do not rely solely on the name of your current plan.
What is supposed to happen in September 2026
According to Wingo, affected existing plans will be changed in stages between 1 and 18 September 2026. Whether and to what extent your contract is affected depends on your current product. For Mobile plans, the included usage, options or presentation of the benefits may change. For Internet plans, download and upload speeds, router services, combined discounts and additional services are particularly relevant.
Important: a plan adjustment does not automatically mean that your plan will become cheaper or worse. It may expand, simplify or regroup the benefits. Nevertheless, you should check carefully whether the new tariff suits your usage. Older plans often include discounts or terms that no longer apply in the same way when switching to a current offer.
Compare price and benefits directly
Place your latest bill, the Wingo notification and your customer account side by side. Create a simple comparison between your current plan and the announced plan. This will show whether anything actually changes.
| Point to check | What you should compare |
|---|---|
| Monthly price | Regular price, time-limited discounts and any combined benefits |
| Mobile data | Data volume in Switzerland, data abroad and throttling after usage |
| Telephony | Unlimited calls or included minutes, international rates and roaming options |
| Internet | Download and upload speeds and requirements at your home address |
| Additional benefits | TV options, international packages, Multi-SIM or security services |
| Contract commitment | Minimum term, cancellation period and possible cancellation date |
For Mobile plans, “unlimited” does not always mean unrestricted usage. Check which countries the data applies to, whether a fair-use policy is provided and whether the speed can be reduced abroad or after a certain level of usage. If you mainly use data in Switzerland, you may not need an extensive roaming package. If you regularly travel outside Switzerland, however, you should look closely at the included countries and data volumes.
For Internet, the advertised maximum speed is only one part of the service. Check which technology is available at your address. A higher tariff is not worthwhile if the building installation or connection cannot make full use of the speed. You can find an overview of current offers in the Internet comparison.
Do not consider discounts in isolation
A common mistake is to compare only the newly stated monthly price with the amount on the last bill. This can be misleading. The bill may include one-off credits, promotional discounts or combined discounts. Conversely, an attractive promotional price may expire later.
For both options, record the following:
- What is the price today?
- Until when does any discount apply?
- What is the price after the discount expires?
- Is the discount linked to a second product, such as Internet and Mobile with the same provider?
- Does a discount disappear if you switch only some of your contracts?
Households with several Wingo products should not assess each plan separately. Changing the Mobile plan may affect a combined benefit for Internet – or vice versa. Always calculate the household’s total monthly costs.
Device instalments remain a separate point to check
If you bought a smartphone, tablet or another device in instalments, check the contractual documents for the device. Device financing can continue independently of the Mobile plan itself. Changing provider or cancelling the plan therefore does not necessarily end the outstanding instalments.
Before making a decision, clarify the following in particular:
- How many instalments are still outstanding?
- Does cancellation make the remaining amount immediately due?
- Is there a separate agreement for financing the device?
- Does your device discount remain in place, or was it linked to the plan?
This check is important because an apparently attractive switch may become less appealing if a remaining instalment is due immediately. Decide only once you know the total costs until the device has been paid off.
Cancellation, switching and deadlines: what your notification says
The specific information in Wingo’s personal notification and the contractual terms applicable to your plan are decisive. Look for the effective date of the adjustment, the cancellation period and any information about an extraordinary cancellation right. Do not assume that such a right exists; use it only if it is explicitly stated or follows from your contractual documents.
If you want to switch, also consider porting your mobile number. In many cases, the new provider can arrange the transfer. However, only authorise a porting request once you have checked your preferred switching date and any outstanding obligations. Depending on the connection, switching Internet providers also requires careful scheduling so that you are not unnecessarily left without a connection.
Which alternatives can you compare?
Wingo uses the Swisscom network. If network coverage and reception are important to you, you can first compare other offers on the Swisscom network with your new Wingo tariff. This is particularly useful if you are generally satisfied with the network quality and mainly want to optimise the price or included benefits.
For a broader comparison, you should also include offers on the Sunrise and Salt networks. Which network suits you best depends greatly on where you live, your commute, holiday destinations and usage inside buildings. An offer with more data is of little value if reception is insufficient in the places you visit frequently.
So compare not only advertising claims, but your actual usage:
- Do you need a lot of data in Switzerland or mainly abroad?
- Is fast Internet at home more important than a low Mobile budget?
- Do you use several SIM cards or want to combine family members and devices?
- How important are 5G, hotspot use and reception on trains or in rural areas?
You can check current tariffs across several networks in the Mobile comparison. For a wider selection based on price and benefits, the comparison can also help.
What you should do now
Do not wait until the changeover day. Download the Wingo notification or save it as a screenshot, note the relevant dates and compare your costs over at least twelve months. Take expiring discounts and any outstanding device instalments into account.
If the new plan still covers your usage and the total price is right, you do not need to switch solely because of the adjustment. However, if benefits are reduced, discounts disappear or you find a more suitable offer on another network, the period before September 2026 is the right time for a structured comparison. What matters is not the name of the plan, but what you actually pay and use in the end.
