Salt has increased the prices of selected SIM-only plans as of 1 June 2026. Depending on the plan, the monthly increase is CHF 1 or CHF 2. This may seem minor at first, but it can affect discounts, bundle benefits and costs over a longer contract period. The decisive factor is therefore not the advertised promotional price, but your actual net price on the bill.
These Salt SIM-only plans are affected by the price increase
According to Salt’s information on the price adjustment, the change affects certain mobile plans. The following monthly increases have applied since 1 June 2026:
| Salt SIM-only plan | Monthly increase |
|---|---|
| Salt Swiss | CHF 1 |
| Salt Swiss XXL | CHF 1 |
| Salt Europe | CHF 1 |
| Salt Europe XXL | CHF 2 |
| Salt World | CHF 2 |
Salt’s individual notification or your current bill remains decisive. Particularly with older plan versions, the exact product name, an applied discount or a promotion may differ from today’s offer for new customers.
Not every Salt product line is automatically affected. Prepaid offers, landline and Internet products, as well as business customer offers must be assessed separately. A Salt Home bundle does not necessarily mean that its base price will change either: often, only the mobile plan price increases while the bundle discount remains unchanged.
CHF 1 or CHF 2: this is the actual additional cost
Calculated over one year, the additional cost is as follows:
- CHF 1 more per month equals CHF 12 per year.
- CHF 2 more per month equals CHF 24 per year.
- If several mobile plans are used in the same household, the increases add up accordingly.
The increase alone is not sufficient reason to switch. Despite the increase, an older, inexpensive Salt plan may still be cheaper than a current comparable plan. Conversely, switching may make sense if you are paying for services you hardly use, such as large data packages for Europe or included international calls.
Consumer protection organisations have long pointed out that price adjustments during ongoing contracts can be difficult for customers to compare. Therefore, check the notification, the contract terms and the deadline Salt specifies for responding. Further background is available in the consumer protection information.
Discounts and bundle benefits: the net price matters
Promotional prices and bundle discounts are common at Salt. You should therefore distinguish between four figures when making your decision:
- Regular list price: the price without a promotion.
- Your personal discount: for example, a lifetime discount or a time-limited promotional discount.
- Bundle discount: a benefit that may be linked to a Salt Home product or other plans.
- New price after the adjustment: the effective amount on your bill from June 2026 onwards.
A fixed discount in francs normally remains the same amount. If the base price increases by CHF 2, your final price will therefore generally also increase by CHF 2. The calculation may be different with percentage discounts. Do not rely on your memory of an old promotional price; instead, compare your last bills before and after the change.
If you cancel a mobile plan, an existing bundle benefit may disappear for other products. Therefore, calculate the cost for the entire household: a cheaper mobile plan with another provider is not a saving if it results in a significantly higher Internet price. For an initial overview, our page on bundle comparisons shows suitable combinations.
Is it worth switching away from Salt?
Switching is particularly worth considering if at least one of these points applies:
- You hardly use mobile Internet abroad but pay for a Europe or World plan.
- Your discount has expired or is significantly smaller than current market offers.
- You do not need unlimited data and make few calls.
- You are not tied to a bundle offer, or the saving remains positive even after losing it.
- Your contract allows extraordinary cancellation after the price adjustment notification and you find a suitable offer in time.
Staying may make sense if your discounted price remains low, you regularly use the included roaming services or switching would make your bundle discount more expensive. Network coverage at home, at work and on frequently used commuting routes is also more important than a small price difference.
How to compare alternatives correctly
Do not simply compare “unlimited” with “unlimited”. Pay attention to the details:
| Criterion | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Network and coverage | Quality can vary depending on the location, building and train route. |
| Data in Switzerland | Check whether unlimited data is really necessary or whether a data package is sufficient. |
| Roaming | Check the countries covered, data limits and costs after the included volume has been used. |
| Activation and cancellation terms | A low monthly price can be offset by one-off fees or minimum contract terms. |
| Price after the promotion | The price you pay permanently matters, not just the introductory month. |
You can filter current offers in the mobile plan comparison by data volume, use abroad and price. If you mainly use Salt because of its network, the overview of the Salt provider can also help you assess available offers and contract details.
Recommendation for Salt customers
First, check your Salt bill from June 2026 onwards and record both the previous and the new net price. Then add any bundle discounts and calculate the costs over twelve months. Compare this amount with alternatives that cover your actual usage.
Do not cancel hastily because of CHF 1 or CHF 2. With a very inexpensive legacy plan, staying may be the better solution. However, if your plan was only attractive because of an old promotion, you do not need the included extras or you will not lose an important bundle benefit, now is a good time to compare switching options.
