DAZN secures Europa League and Conference League in Switzerland from 2027/28

Swiss football fans need to rethink their subscription strategy: at the end of April 2026, DAZN acquired the broadcasting rights for the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League in Switzerland. From the 2027/28 season, DAZN will exclusively show all 342 matches per season of these two competitions. The Champions League, meanwhile, stays on Blue TV – anyone who wants to watch all three European club competitions in the future will need two subscriptions.

What DAZN will show from 2027/28

Streaming service DAZN will broadcast all matches of the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League in Switzerland from the 2027/28 season. According to DAZN Group, that's 342 matches per season – from the group stage to the final. The rights are exclusive, meaning no other provider in Switzerland will be allowed to show these matches.

Until now, the rights for the Europa League and Conference League were held by Blue Sport (Swisscom). With this rights change, Blue Sport loses a significant part of its football portfolio.

Champions League stays on Blue TV until 2030/31

The UEFA Champions League remains exclusively on Blue TV for the time being. The current rights run until the 2030/31 season. For fans who want to follow all three UEFA club competitions, this means concretely from 2027/28: they will need both a DAZN subscription and a Blue Sport subscription.

This is a significant change compared to today, where Blue Sport as a single provider covers all three competitions.

Timeline: what changes and when?

  • Until summer 2027: No change. Europa League and Conference League continue to be shown on Blue Sport.
  • From the 2027/28 season (expected to start summer 2027): DAZN takes over all 342 matches of the Europa League and Conference League.
  • Champions League: Stays on Blue TV until at least 2030/31.

You still have just over a year to plan your subscription situation. Existing Blue Sport subscriptions are not affected for now.

What this means for your subscription

Scenario 1: you only want Europa League and Conference League

From 2027/28, a DAZN subscription is enough. You can cancel your Blue Sport subscription, as long as you don't follow the Champions League. DAZN is usable as a pure streaming service without a TV receiver – on your smartphone, tablet, Smart TV or via streaming sticks.

Scenario 2: you want to watch all three UEFA competitions

In that case, you'll need both DAZN and Blue Sport from 2027/28. Whether combined bundle offers will be available – for example through Swisscom or other providers – is currently unknown. It's worth keeping an eye on developments before signing long-term contracts.

Scenario 3: you don't have a sports subscription today

If you've done without sports broadcasts so far and want to get started from 2027/28, you can choose specifically based on your interests: DAZN for the Europa League and Conference League, Blue Sport for the Champions League – or both.

How much do the subscriptions cost?

DAZN has not yet announced specific prices for its offering from 2027/28 in Switzerland. Currently, DAZN offers various packages in Switzerland; the exact pricing for the new UEFA rights is likely to be announced by DAZN at a later date.

For Blue Sport: the offering is available through Swisscom as a bundle or separately. You can find a current overview of TV offerings and prices in our TV comparison.

Important: Don't sign long-term contracts without waiting to see how prices develop at both providers. Especially with two-year contracts, the situation may still change before the rights switch.

Assessment: what does this rights change mean?

The change is a clear signal that DAZN is taking the Swiss market seriously. Until now, Blue Sport was the dominant provider for European club football in Switzerland. With the loss of the Europa League and Conference League, Blue Sport loses a considerable part of its appeal for football fans – even though the Champions League, as the most prestigious competition, remains exclusively on Blue TV.

For consumers, the split between two providers means higher costs in the short term for those who want to watch all competitions. In the medium term, however, competition between DAZN and Blue Sport could lead to more attractive offerings – for example through bundle options or promotional deals.

Recommendations

  • Now: Don't rush. Existing contracts with Blue Sport continue as normal until the rights change in 2027.
  • Before signing a contract: Check the contract duration. Avoid long commitments that extend beyond summer 2027 until DAZN's prices for Switzerland are confirmed.
  • Watch out: Whether Swisscom or other providers will offer bundle deals with DAZN remains open. Keep an eye out for relevant announcements.

The rights award has been decided – the subscription decision is yours. With a little planning, you'll be able to choose exactly the offering from 2027/28 that suits your football viewing habits.
