Champions League Switzerland 2026/27: Providers, Costs and Alternatives at a Glance

Swisscom has done it again: blue Sport secures the exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League in Switzerland for the 2026/27 season as well. For football fans, this means: if you want to watch the top European competition live, you can hardly avoid blue Sport. What this costs in concrete terms, which packages are available and whether there are alternatives – this article gives you the full overview.

Swisscom Holds the Exclusive Rights

According to a statement from Swisscom dated 30 April 2026, blue Sport has renewed the broadcasting rights for the Champions League in Switzerland for the 2026/27 season. The exclusivity is key: no other Swiss TV broadcaster or streaming service is permitted to show the matches live. Neither SRF nor other free-to-air channels have access to the live matches.

This is not a new situation. Blue Sport has established itself in recent years as the central destination for top-level football in Switzerland. The renewed rights acquisition confirms this direction.

What Does blue Sport Show – and What Doesn't It Show?

Blue Sport does not broadcast the Champions League in its entirety. The key points:

  • Live matches: The majority of group stage matches as well as all knockout round fixtures are broadcast live.
  • Highlight summaries: Summaries are available even without a Premium subscription, but on a delayed basis.
  • Swiss involvement: Matches featuring Swiss clubs or Swiss players are given priority in the schedule.
  • Simultaneous matches: When matches take place at the same time, blue Sport must prioritise. Not every match is available live.

An important caveat: the exact match selection for 2026/27 will only be communicated at the start of the season. Based on past experience, the top matches – semi-finals, the final, and fixtures involving the major European clubs – are always included.

Subscription Options with blue Sport

Blue Sport is available as a standalone streaming subscription, regardless of whether you are a Swisscom customer. There are various ways to access it:

blue Sport as a standalone subscription

You can subscribe to blue Sport directly via the app or browser, without being a Swisscom internet customer. The subscription can be cancelled monthly or is cheaper as an annual subscription.

blue Sport as an add-on in a Swisscom package

Swisscom customers can add blue Sport to their existing TV or combined package. Bundle discounts are often available.

Important note on prices: Swisscom had not yet officially communicated specific subscription prices for 2026/27 at the time this article was published. You can find current prices directly on the Swisscom website or in our TV provider comparison.

Alternatives for Fans Without blue Sport

Not everyone wants to or can take out a blue Sport subscription. Here are the realistic options:

Sports bars and restaurants

Many restaurants and bars in Switzerland hold a gastro licence for blue Sport and broadcast Champions League matches. This is the cheapest option for occasional viewers. It's worth checking your favourite venues before match day.

Watching together

If someone in your circle of friends or acquaintances has a blue Sport subscription, you can watch the matches there. Blue Sport allows use on multiple devices simultaneously – the exact terms are set out in the respective T&Cs.

Highlights and summaries

SRF and other channels show summaries after the matches. Those who don't need to be there live can get their fix for free this way.

Short subscription for the knockout phase

If you're only interested in the decisive matches, you can take out a monthly subscription with blue Sport, follow the knockout phase and then cancel. Pay attention to the cancellation deadlines.

Is Switching to Swisscom Worth It?

Many football fans who are currently with another provider ask themselves this question. There is no blanket answer – it depends on your situation.

Switching is more likely worth it if:

  • You are already dissatisfied with your current internet or TV provider
  • You regularly watch multiple sports live (blue Sport also shows ice hockey, tennis and other sports)
  • You are looking for a combined package and Swisscom is competitively priced

Switching is less likely worth it if:

  • You only watch a few Champions League matches per season
  • You are happy with your current provider and would only switch because of the Champions League
  • The standalone blue Sport subscription works out cheaper for you than switching provider

Checklist before deciding:

  • How long does your current contract still run?
  • Are there switching costs or bonuses?
  • Is Swisscom available in your region with good network quality?
  • Compare the total costs (internet + TV + blue Sport) with your current bill

What You Can Do Now

The 2026/27 season begins in autumn 2026. Until then, you have time to review your options:

  • Existing Swisscom customers: Check whether blue Sport is already included in your package or can be added at a good price.
  • Customers of other providers: Compare the total costs of switching with a standalone subscription from blue Sport.
  • Occasional viewers: The monthly subscription or the sports bar option are the most flexible solutions.

Current prices and packages change regularly. Check directly with blue Sport or our TV comparison for the latest information.
